The guy with that certain Dance Appeal

In 2018, my unexpected journey into the world of West Coast Swing (WCS) began—a turning point that would change my life for good. Ironically, before that I was anything but a dance enthusiast. I deliberately avoided clubs and parties because dancing made me feel uncomfortable and awkward.

The trigger for my dance discovery journey was my mother’s upcoming wedding. Wanting not to be completely unprepared for this special occasion, I started exploring different dance styles—from Disco Fox to ballroom and Latin, all the way to samba. But it wasn’t until I happened to see a promo video about West Coast Swing that I was truly captivated.

What immediately excited me: the unique versatility of WCS, which can be adapted to almost any genre of music, and the unmistakable style of this dance. That discovery marked the start of my dance journey, which developed faster than I ever could have imagined.

That same year, I took the leap into competitions and started in the Newcomer division. Since then, I’ve continued to grow and now dance at Advanced level. My passion for WCS has also expanded into various professional areas:

• Certified Judge for WCS competitions
• Regular provider of private lessons
• Workshops for all levels—from beginners to advanced dancers

What began as necessary preparation for a single occasion has grown into a deep passion that now makes up a significant part of my life—a transformation from a dance-shy beginner to a versatile WCS enthusiast and teacher. And the best part: through WCS, I found the love of my life!
